"Les Vitarelles has an authentic and rustic charm. A place to switch off and enjoy the countryside. It has a generous living space and kitchen with outside seating and a short walk to
the swimming pool. Lovely to be able to collect chicken eggs in the morning. Great fun "

"Excellent stay at a lovely place" — Charlie, 06 juil. 2019
— Vincent, 01 juin 2019
We stayed in the cottage which was lovely and fully equipped with everything you need. Our little boy enjoyed roaming through Emma and Don's fields chasing the chickens and looking at the donkeys, a perfect hideaway but close enough to lots of lovely hill top villages. A great week in a lovely setting with great hosts what more could you ask for! — Catherine - London, 15 oct. 2016
Beautiful, peaceful, welcoming. We had a wonderful week in the Farmhouse at La Vitarelles. Two families with 4 children between us (13 - 7 age range) amply accommodated in the spacious and comfortable, well equipped farmhouse. Loads of space to set the kids free and know where they were. Gorgeous setting and wonderful pool. Lots to see and do locally if you want to (Chateaux, markets, canoeing the Dordogne, cycling) but a great place to stay and relax if you need to recharge. Emma and Don couldn't have been more welcoming and helpful, Emma is a wonderful cook and her chocolate brownies that greeted our arrival, legendary. We will remember the views, swallows and billions of stars in the truly dark skies for a long time to come. Planning my next trip...... Lovely French farm cottage with close distances to local villages and sights. We were a group of four friends and spent one week in one of the cottages/houses provided by our excellent hosts Emma and Don. The cottage was as described and found well appointed and clean and the swimming pool was a welcome respite in the hot weather. Emma and Don were most informative and very approachable and we wouldn't hesitate to recommend their cottages to any of our friends/family. — Susan J., 04 sept. 2016
We had a wonderful stay at The Farmhouse, it was perfect for a large family group. The house is stylishly and beautifully restored with everything you could need and the grounds are a joy. The children were perfectly safe to cycle off and explore on their own, and we all enjoyed the pool and eating together outside every evening. A stunning location, and the Emma & Don are the perfect hosts - there for advice when you need them, but leave you to relax and enjoy your holiday without overbearing rules and instructions! We loved it! Thank you! — Jo - Reigate, Surrey, 25 août 2016
We spent a wonderful week at Les Vitarelles, an extended family holiday we spread ourselves between the cottage and the farmhouse. We were made very welcome and enjoyed the homemade cakes and jam left out on arrival. Emma and Don were fabulous hosts, discreet but at the same time on hand to recommend good eating spots and markets. The grounds are extensive and the children had fun exploring on their bikes while we were able to lounge around by the pool lazily planning our next dinner. A perfect spot from which to explore the Perigord region of the Dordogne. — Johanna - Bath, United Kingdom, 25 août 2016
Excellent property, location and owners.

We have had a fantastic week at your cottage and would like to thank you for your hospitality. The cottage was perfectly equipped and the location is amazing. We loved exploring the local area (thank you for your recommendations) and your pool and surroundings provided many a happy hour in the afternoon and at night. The children particularly enjoyed feeding the donkeys and our daughter has told everyone about it! Many thanks, you are the perfect hosts and we hope to see you again.

Merci! — Diane, 17 août 2016
Beautiful, peaceful, well equipped property in stunning surroundings, perfect holiday! We have just returned from a fantastic two weeks staying in the farmhouse at Les Vitarelles. If you are looking for peace and quiet, well equipped accommodation, rolling hills and views this is perfect. The accommodation consists of 3 beautiful, sympathetically restored buildings. We stayed in the farmhouse, which is stunning and the site exceeded our expectations. We were two families with four children between us ranging in age between 5 and 8. The kids loved running around in the fields, playing on the hay bales, feeding and grooming the donkeys and jumping in the pool. It's really picture perfect, zero road noise and if you are keen on stargazing at night there is no light pollution - we spent quite a lot of time watching shooting stars whilst lying on the grass after a couple of relaxing glasses of wine! Les Vitarelles has some gorgeous villages and towns within easy 10-20 minutes drive - you do need a car while you're there. There are loads of food markets on at night in the towns around and some lovely restaurants - the owners, Don and Emma, gave us some good recommendations. We had some great days out - canoeing on the Dordogne, hiring bikes, building 'dams' in the river, local markets, caves full of stalactites and stalagmites, chateaus and much more. All together a really memorable and fantastic holiday, and we would definitely stay here again - we didn't want to come home!! — Lissie P., 16 août 2016
Amazing hosts, beautiful location! We stayed in the cottage the first week and in the farmhouse the second week (as part of a larger group of friends). Don, Emma & Henry were amazing hosts and were very generous in making our stay as comfortable as possible. We travelled with a number of children of varying ages in our party and they absolutely loved the farm location. Various child related equipment was provided on request, free of charge. The accommodation was super clean and well stocked. The pool is fenced and has a number of alarms for those concerned about little ones running off!! Our 2-year-old loved chicken chasing, feeding the donkeys and goats, and picking fruit straight from the trees. A lovely family holiday, we hope to return. — Donna, 03 août 2016
Emma and Don have created a wonderful, stylish place for families to have a lovely rural, peaceful stay. My children adored the animals, especially George the cat, and I enjoyed the stunning views and our welcoming hosts. It is well located half way between Bergerac and Sarlat, but has some truly gorgeous and less touristy places to visit very nearby like Cadouin and Tremolat. This is how you hope a stay in rural France will be... perfect. — Lesley, Winchester, United Kingdom, 29 juil. 2016
Don and Emma have done a lovely job and are great hosts. The lovely cottage we stayed in last week is in wonderful surroundings. There is tranquillity, quietness and amazing views. Emma brings you home made cake as well as self made 'confiture'. Great. We had a wonderful time and would recommend this place to friends and family. — Bart, The Hague - Netherlands, 21 juil. 2016
Great food, great wine, great company but not so great hangover!! Fantastic hosts and a great ass and some other nice animals!! — Jeff Finch, Bournemouth, Dorset, 01 juil. 2016

Thanks so much for a wonderful few days, you both went above and beyond our expectations, most of all Emma's culinary skills. This place is a real hidden gem! We will be back! x — Darren & Agnieszka, 30 juin 2016

A truly wonderful three days. Wonderful hospitality, superb food and amazing company. Thank you so much Don & Emma xx — Anne Hawkins, 23 juin 2016
Just had a relaxing Spring break in the heart of the French countryside, the weather was warm and sunny, unlike England. Great time of year to go as the roads were quiet but the local markets were full of locally grown strawberries, and fresh asparagus. Had such a lovely time at the gite, Don and Emma made us very welcome again, we still have a lot of places to visit so are planning our next trip. — Patricia Bashford, 10 mai 2016
Just spent a wonderful week in the cottage. Thank you Emma, Don and Henry for making our stay perfect. The local area is stunning. We were made to feel part of the family and nothing was too much trouble for the owners.Lots of good restaurants in the area but Emma cooked us duck confit the first night of our stay so we ate there most evenings. (in my opinion some of the best cooking in the region) If you would like a true taste of the Dordogne look no further.

Une très belle maison sur plusieurs niveaux. Un accueil remarquable par un couple très chaleureux! À refaire. — Vincent Fantova, 02 janv. 2016
We had a delightful stay at this lovely French property. It suited us perfectly as a group of 9 friends on a cycle trip around the Dordogne area. The house was very clean, newly refurbished to a high standard and had plenty living space. Emma went out of her way to make us feel welcome and ensure we had everything we needed. And for a very reasonable extra fee she provided us with a delicious 4 course meal on our first evening, perfect! Lovely rural setting, with fruit to pick from the trees and kittens to play with in the gardens! The best airbnb property we stayed in during our 8 night trip to France. — Jane Anderson, 07 oct. 2015
Dordogne Bliss
A great, laid back stay at The Barn, Les Vitarelles...relaxing (?) with 5 children between two families was heavily aided by having plenty of space inside and outside. The kitchen/diner was well appointed and is brand new and when we need a little more cutlery it was no bother as Don provided everything we needed. The welcome hamper with home-made lemon cake kept us fuelled as did the bag of croissants, bread, pate, milk and eggs. With plenty of comfy sofas, chairs and a patio area there was always space to find somewhere to chill-out or enjoy a movie together. The bedrooms were well furnished with plenty of wardrobe/hanging space, new beds and feather duvets and pillows...and NOT filled with tired 'brocante' parading as 'shabby chic' so often found in many gites. The outdoor play areas kept the children busy and the safety fence around the pool provided a welcome sigh of relief knowing the children couldn't get in without us. The surrounding acreage is fantastically idyllic with an orchard supplying our daily fruit and an abundance of wild mint on the trails. The small Bastide village of Molieres is about a 20 minute stroll away. If the weather takes a turn and lightning strikes, you can enjoy nature's dramatic display from the vast picture window in the living area...we were blessed with plenty of French sun and the swimming pool (cleaned daily) helped us cool off as did the welcome bottle of chilled wine. Emma and Don couldn't do enough to make our stay a memorable, enjoyable and fun filled one...our only regret...we didn't stay long enough!

The three properties were well furnished and the owners couldn't have been more helpful in attending to our various requests and enquiries. We took advantage of the offer of evening meals on several occasions and were very pleased we did so. Emma's cooking skills are amazing and she and Don were very generous with what they gave us. Finally, the pool is bigger than we expected for a property of this size and was much enjoyed by our kids! — John, 07 oct. 2015

Our stay at Les Vitarelles was absolutely lovely! The "Barn" has been newly renovated-a perfect blend of French country charm and modern conveniences. We even had deck off our bedroom with a lovely view of the countryside....a perfect place to enjoy our morning coffee. Les Vitarelles is a perfect location to enjoy many of the picturesque villages that dot the region. The quaint little village of Molieres is just a 30 minute walk away and was a particular favorite of ours. Our hosts were warm and friendlys, they really made our stay a happy one. We appreciated the welcome basket and being able to pick fresh plums from their tree. On our next visit to France we will look forward to returning to Les Vitarelles. Many thanks Tammy and Grant — Tammy and Grant, 04 août 2015
A fabulous base to explore the surrounding French villages and countryside. The gite was everything we could have asked for. With the light airy rooms in typical French style, with all the comforts of home. I even went in the swimming pool as it was so tempting and we had it more or less to ourselves. I will have many happy memories of lying on the sunbeds sipping a glass of wine, basking in the sunshine. Our Hosts were a lovely English couple, that were so welcoming and made sure we had a great time, letting us know of all the local places to eat and visit. — Patricia Bashford, 21 juil. 2015
